Fan Site – Bloodlines

April 30, 2008

Along with sharing information about the many ‘Save Blood Ties’ campaigns we also want to periodically highlight some of the great fan sites that serve the Blood Ties fandom.

Today we start with the first Blood Ties fan site that I found. It’s known as Bloodlines.

The site went live on Feb. 11, 2007. Barbi, Jessie and Marie are the site admins. Barbi tells us that they have been friends for many years since they each ran their own personal fan sites for the TV show Witchblade.

Their site offers many goodies related to the show. They have a very active discussion forum, a huge screencap and picture gallery, an episode guide, tons of great interviews exclusive to Bloodlines, sound bytes from some of the episodes and much more.

You can check out all the great content here.

Spreading The Word Through Online Communities

April 28, 2008

Do you have a personal blog, Live Journal site, Facebook account or MySpace page?

If so, you can help spread the word about Blood Ties and it won’t cost you anything!

All of these online communities are great places where you can tell people about Blood Ties or the campaigns to help save the show. The more online places where fans are posting things about the show the higher the show and these websites appear when other people do online searches for information.

Here are just a few of the recent postings I’ve come across that mention Blood Ties and/or the campaigns to help save the show…

Contact Your Network This Weekend

April 25, 2008

While you go about your weekend activities over the next couple of days why not take five minutes to send a message to the TV network that aired Blood Ties in your country? It doesn’t cost a thing and it’s easy to do! :)

Leave online feedback at the Lifetime website (US viewers)

Leave online feedback at the CityTV website (Canadian viewers)

Send an email to Virgin 1 (UK viewers) at this email address
As of April ‘08 this network was airing Blood Ties.

Send an email to Living TV (UK viewers) at this email address
This network aired Blood Ties previously.

When you send feedback via email or an online web form it’s possible for the network receiving that feedback to tell what country you’re sending it from so please be sure to send it to the appropriate network for your country first and foremost. Any additional ones you send may be helpful but we can’t be sure how helpful.

If you have contact information for another network in a different country please feel free to share it below in a comment so everyone can benefit.

Variety.com Ad Campaign Update

April 24, 2008

The hard working team over at the Variety.com Ad Campaign have updated their donations honor roll page and as of April 24th they now have just over $1,000 in donations so far. Well done!

Of course they’re only part of the way towards the $3,500 goal that’s needed to be able to fund the ads so make sure you keep everyone you know aware of the campaign.

Donations are being accepted through May 15th, 2008.

Lifetime Responds To My Phone Message

April 23, 2008

Like many other Blood Ties fans I took part in the Lifetime Monday Phone Calls campaign this week. I called on Tuesday and left a voicemail message.

I just received a call back. The rep was very nice to talk with and she said the same kinds of things that other fans have mentioned before.

She said the show is still in limbo and it’s fate is undecided.

When I asked if there was a time frame for when a decision might be made she said there wasn’t a firm date.

Kudos to Lifetime for responding to my call in a very timely manner.

Variety.com Ad Campaign Update

April 20, 2008

The Variety.com ad campaign that we told you about in this posting is going strong. The organizers have created an ‘Honor Roll” page listing many of the donors so far. You can find that page here.

While we all enjoy participating in the many charity campaigns that Blood Ties fans run we also sometimes need to put funds towards a campaign that will make an impact in places where the entertainment PTB (Powers That Be) hang out to help us get Blood Ties renewed!

Now would be a great time to donate whatever amount you can to help the cause. All the details are listed here.

$900 Donation To The Best Friends Animal Society

April 19, 2008

This recent $900 donation to the Best Friends Animal Society was made possible through a couple of recent fan initiatives.

A portion of the donation came from the profits made on the sale of the custom printed postcards that were mailed to Lifetime by fans for the “Blood Ties Fans Bite Back! – Postcard campaign” that we mentioned here.

The rest of the funds came from a couple of auctions for some Christina Cox autographed photos. You can find the details in this thread on the Bloodlines forums.

Information on the total donation can be found in this posting on the Bloodlines forums.

Blood Ties Posting At SpectralReview.com

April 19, 2008

Doug and the folks over at SpectralReview.com are fans of Blood Ties and have mentioned the show a few times on their blog. On a recent posting they mentioned the SaveBloodTies.org website and the Blood Ties audio review.

Head over and take a look at all the other great content on their site and leave them a comment to let them know how much we appreciate their support.

Want to See or Possibly Hear Your Favorite Blood Ties Character Featured on NPR?

April 18, 2008

Are you interested in writing a brief (150 words or less) essay about your favorite Blood Ties character that just might help to expose more people to our beloved show?

If so, then please take a look at the popular NPR (National Public Radio) blog known as the ‘In Character’ blog. This is where they ask “Great characters: What makes them? What does it take to create them? Why do they matter? NPR’s In Character series joins with readers to explore these questions”. They’ve covered a wide range of characters from Dora the Explorer to Darth Vader. Why not see if we can get Henry, Vicki or Mike on that list?

They accept submissions from anyone via this page. All the details and guidelines are listed at that link. Who knows it might make it onto their blog or even onto one of their nationally syndicated radio programs or podcasts!

Special thanks go out to Blood Ties fan Teresa for sharing this idea with us.

Buy Official Blood Ties Merchandise To Show Your Support

April 18, 2008

A great way to let the PTB (Powers That Be) know that there’s a strong fan base out here is to buy any official merchandise since that’s something they track. There aren’t a lot of options in that area as of yet but there are a few.

Blood Ties Signature Poster – You can purchase a 26.75″ x 39.5″ poster from the online store at Kaleidoscope Entertainment’s official website for the show. Just use this link. This item is only available through May 31, 2008.

Blood Ties episodes from iTunes (US only) – Folks in the US can purchase individual episodes of Blood Ties as well as the entire season via Apple’s iTunes. You can either play them on your video iPod or you can play them on your PC. If you have iTunes installed on your PC you can use this link to find the show.

Blood Ties DVDs – As of April 2008 Blood Ties has only been released on DVD in region 2 PAL format. You can get them from Amazon.co.uk and other retailers. They do ship worldwide.
